Are you part of The Game?

Das Spiel is the award-winning mind-reading show by Austrian illusionist, mentalist and performer Philipp Oberlohr. It is an innovative and genre-defying experience that brings people together:

Das Spiel takes strangers and turns them into friends” (David Duchin, The Peoples’ Show London).

Through a series of coincidences…

…the audience starts playing The Game. In the course of this Game Oberlohr reads the minds of the audience and knows things he cannot know – from birthdays to the names of old school friends.

At first, Oberlohr seems to be pulling the strings; but it turns out that he is also being played by this game.

Das Spiel has begun a long time ago and the supposed coincidences have long been predetermined – because:

Das Spiel wants to be played.

This innovative and genre-defying show convinced juries, press and audiences all around Europe alike. Oberlohr goes beyond the scope of traditional magic shows and creates an experience that connects everyone.

He takes the audience by the hand with a lot of humor, charm and empathy, creating meaningful and lasting encounters with the people present.

You are part of The Game.

The grid is an aluminum frame (6x4 meters), which is attached to the ceiling at 6 points with tie-down straps. There should be 2.5 (min.) to 3 meters (max.) distance from the ground to the upper part of the grid. Both aluminum frame and tie-down straps are provided. 35 ribbons run over the scaffold and are lowered during the performance (see image above).

One person can set up the structure in approx. 2 hours, two people in about 1 hour. Taking down the grid takes about 1 hour. For smaller stages the grid can be halved to 4 meters wide, 3 meters deep (or 3 meters wide and 4 meters deep).

ABOUT

PHILIPP OBERLOHR studied theology and philosophy in Innsbruck (Austria) and physical theatre and illusions in London (U.K.) Since 2010 Oberlohr is touring through Europe with his experiential shows that toy with the perception of the audience. He has performed in theatres, museums, cemeteries and a secret masonic temple in the heart of London. ”Das Spiel” has gained a cult-following in Europe and is now going overseas.

Oberlohr is combining unusual disciplines always with the focus on strengthening the experiential character of his shows. Accidentally he apparently started a “trend towards modern illusionism” (Sandra Schäfer, Vienna).
